This is the first time I have posted an image so soon after an earlier one. But today was very lucky for me. I came upon a (Tundra) Peregrine Falcon, a bird I had never seen nor photographed before. Fortunately the one photographer who was standing beside me is a brother-in-law of the bird curator of the San Diego Zoo and knew a lot about the species. So, I got an ID and a very welcome lecture from him about the bird. Turned out that this bird is a juvenile female (banded on both legs), which was quite familiar to him. It came up here (Huntington Beach, CA) from La Jolla, CA, and is the only Falcon in the area -- don't know what it will do next year for a mate. I minimally cropped and sharpened the image. How did I do?
Did well Wendell Got a nice wing position, good exposure, good bg and its sharp.
The biggest help would have been a better sun angle, light was from the right. Check the tail, there is only a little are not in shadow, over the shoulder light would have lit the entire tail !!! Got a fine image and big keeper in my book !!! Big Congrats !!!
Hi Alfred . . . Thanks . . . I did try to lighten under the tail, but could not get it to look good so I had to give up on it, leaving me with only a crop and sharpening.
Very sharp details and a sharp eye Wendell, agree with Mr. Forns on the light angle. Mr. Peters' repost enhances your image and puts it over the top...
Lance, your work on the re-post produced a better-looking image -- much appreciated! I'd be interested to know exactly how you made the improvement in the tail. My efforts only made it look "muddy". And, by the way what does s/h stand for?
