This morning while driving along a back-road that parallels a marsh, I noticed this gal and stopped far away in order to record her journey. Yes, she did proceed to walk from one side of the road to the other, but I still don't know "why". Any ideas? The image is cropped and sharpened slightly.

Great Picture. It caught my eye because, as I was driving home, I slowed down for something in the road, and it was an egret just walking ALONG (not across) the road - ahead of me. Eventually, it went back onto the side of the road, and I drove on....

I'd never seen that before - and then your post....

Sometimes they see bugs in the road, and I guess it's lunchtime....?

I would say it's to prove to the possum that it could actually be done.

This from Wikipedia on the topic: "Some psychologists believe the riddle's humor comes from the fact that its answer is expected to be funny, but is not."

    Nope, it ain't a very funny joke . . .
