Wow, he seems to be glowing in that dark background, well done. Would you share your technique with us?

Fine aquarium image Jack !!! Love that bg U/W we stop down to make the strobe the main light darkening the bg

As presented would add some canvas to the front, always good to have more space up front. Excellent !!

    Jack,

Pretty interesting fish. This image pops up due to the black background and the bright colours on the fish. As Alfred has mentioned, more space infront of the subject would be good.
    Cheers,

Thanks for the comments. Composition comment valid, I usually pay close attention to the rule of thirds. Saltwater fish are so vibrant with unbelievable colors which show up well under actinic lighting. Most fish aquariums are equipted with this lighting which consist of one actinic bulb (20k) and one super white (10K). (Reef aquariums require the same type of light with higher intensity for coral growth) This image was taken in an acrlic aquarium with a black background. Acrylic is clearer than glass with less glare. I did use a flash for fill light. Its necessary to take the image from an angle of about 30 deg. to avoid the reflection from covering the subject. Even though the original BG was black, this image BG is totally artificial. I used my black brush to make repairs and ended up with 100% paint BG.

Very cool 3-D look to the image. Nicely done. I would tyr this w/o the border as it "contains" it too much.
