    Default stuck tripod leg

I have a 1325 tripod and cannot get one of the upper legs sections to extend. I can loosen the knob and with a lot of pressure rotate the leg section. However, no matter what force I use I cannot extend it. How can I get it out?

My guess is that it is a swollen bushing.

I know how to clean and replace bushings. The problem is that the upper leg won't move - I can't ext end it 3 inches, much less remove it.

Heat to expand the metal item usually works.

    Allan,
Try a belt wrench. If possible, run hot water through it while twisting the stuck section. Move it back and forth up and down and hopefully the stuck crud will work it's way out.
I have this wrench from Sears. You could also strike it with a rubber mallot or a wrapped piece of 2x4 while twisting it.

    Good Luck!

Here is what finally worked. Took the head off and turn tripod upside down. Had someone stand on the middle section. Meanwhile, I pulled up on the stuck leg as I tapped it with a 2 by 2. All of a sudden the leg popped out. :)
