I have never heard of this falcon. Pretty sure this is the right ID, Cropped from left and right. Not sure if it holds enough interest, but I wanted to show off the feathers.

A really interesting looking bird Jackie and certainly the photo made me take a good hard look at it. I am not sure I would like to meet this bird in person or not! I really like the head feather details, as well as all the other detail. I think the crop is fine.

Jackie, I think it's a very good portrait style photo-nice detail in feathers and love his eyes-great job!

    Very pleasant and intimate portrait.
I'm not so sure about the ID.
It's certainly from the hawk family (Accipiter's), resembles quite a bit a juvenile Goshawk (European species).
Not sure about the American species though.

Oh wow, I opened it and gasped! the in-your-face comp is very effective, especially with those eyes the sharp detail and the white bg. Congrats.

Very effective. Dramatic, sharp, interesting feather pattern.
    Well done

Nailed this one jackie !!! Excellent quaily and what a look. Might consider a sligthly tigher crop? Would like a little less body and bigger in frame head !! Love this capture !!!

This is what I had in mind.
