Great Egret, photographed in Arizona last weekend.

    1/400 f/6.3 ISO 400
    Canon 1D3 w/ 400DO lens w/ 1.4 EX (560mm) - Tripod w/ Wimberley head.
Subject distance 29 feet - no cropping was done!
    AI Servo AF Manual Exposure
    580EX II flash w/ Better Beamer @ -1 2/3

Processed in Lightroom, bumped up color noise reduction slightly, sharpened eye very slightly. Output size and sharpen for web done in LightRoom2.

That's it! Comments and corrections appreciated.

Its a beautiful picture. Liked the eye and silky white which seems to be a little bluish though. The BKGR is very smooth.

Yes, I see that is bluish. I am not sure about changing it, though....The bird was in shadow on an overcast day. The background color was across the water, and not in tree shade. I can make the changes, will try and repost.

It's a pretty picture WT. Another vote for adjusting the white point in Levels. Here's a repost. I haven't heard from you since the clean-up. How are things going?

Hi, Doug! Thanks for the comments and image work. It's been busy, a good thing these days. I was back in Bosque for IPT #1, and hope to make a trip there in Feb for the first time.
Here's a repost of the image - this time I used the highlight eyedropper in a curves adjustment layer to reset the whites on the bird. He's still got a bit of blue down where the shadow was deeper...I don't think it looks right to just have a stark white bird when the background is so muted....Then I added a classic "S" curve to boost contrast. Much improved, should have done it to begin with....

Very nice reposts, the last one looks great but I would tone down the whites a very little bit, other than that, BG, clours, detail, comp, and light are beautifull! Congratulaitons!
