Superb details and very good color rendition Doctor...well done. I like those sleepy eyes...Mr. Owl is placed just right in frame. It looks like he had a long day, and ready for bed, the way he is leaning over...:D. I have to go out with you and capture some owls. How big is this fellow anyway...15, 20 inches?

whatbird.com says they range from 16-32". i do know that the females are quite larger than the male. maybe even 4" taller!! i love owls, so if anybody knows where one is, please let me know!!!!! would love the find a barred owl couple.

    Hi Harold,

I am jealous as I love owls but haven't seen one in the wild for over a year. Congratulations on what I consider a very nice image. I like the composition. I agree with Gus that the bird is place good. The Owl is sharp with good details. I also like the eyes. I like the light blue sky. I also like how the background trees bracket the owl. I am undecided but I might try removing the lighter out of focus tree bits to the right and left of the owl. However, it is very nice as is.

    Well done!

Harold - I think the sharpness and composition on this image is better than the the previous one. The sky is also much less of a distraction.
    Like it lots

Nice photo Harold. Easy to see why they are called GHO's. Very nice colours.

Harold, I, too like this one better than the first, cleaner background (the perch isn't as nice) and it looks like an illustration from a children's book (that is meant as a compliment)!
