This was taken at the Merced NWR, CA, in late light with the 500F4IS. I credit Image Stabilization for being able to take this very sharp picture (at least in the original) handheld from my car window with 1/125s shutter speed.

    Thanks for looking. JR

Birds have a mind of their own.....and thus choose their perches. Some don't like signs and we all would prefer a more natural perch but to this guy.....it is a natural perch. I do like the look that he's giving you. Nice detail.....and a marvelous BG. Well done....it's a keeper in my book.

Very sharp with amazing eye contact and clean BG. I would push the colors a little more. Just a thought.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the comments! Maxis, are you suggesting to push the colors of the background only or the entire image? Thanks, JR

    Hi John,

You already have a colorful BG and no need to push the colors as it can distract from your main subject. Using QM, I was able to give an extra punch to the Hawk. Keep in mind that I like vivid colors!!

    Hope you like it.

    Thanks!
