    Hi Bill

Nice seeing this fine animal close up !!! Real sharp for the shutter speed !!! Can't imagine how it got so low? Your 5D is a good performer and can raise the ISO a bit !!!

Wish you would have included the exp comp? As presented would like more room in front and maybe crop a little behind. Not sure about the color/texture something seems to be going on. Bg wise you always want something cleaner but it is workable, wold darken so the animal shows better. Would also select the eye and make it more visible, its the more prominent part of the image !!!

Alfred. I made a mistake, this image was taken with a 40D exposure comp was +0.67. Camera was mounted on a tripod.

    Hi Bill,
While I was working on your composition, Mr. Forns was addressing all of the techs...:D I like the base composition. Its a bit tight in frame, and the background is pushing 255 on the whites. I modified to illustrate these points. I cropped from the right of the frame; extended canvas to the left and on top to give him more room. I toned down the whites in the background and some hot spots on the subject. I opened up the blacks around the eye and selective sharpened. I agree with Mr. Forns in reference to the funky colors and feel on this one...I hope this presents well with you...looking forward to your next one...

Bill, the extra canvas helps alot! nice capture, If it were mine I'd lighten the eye.

    Hi folks,
I did pretty much the same as Gus after reading Alfred's suggestions. I did lighten the eye a bit more than Gus. It worked out well. I added canvas to the top and to the left and didn't crop off quite as much from the right, but the results are very similar. Thanks for the tips. I am learning. Gus your background adjustments are better, I didn't go quite as far. As to the funky color in the background, it was my attempt to tone it down. I converted to b and w then used the history brush to restore the color. I used less opacity on the background than the foreground to tone it down.
