This is one of several Black-crowned Night Herons that hang around a pond I just discovered not too far from where I live. It's stocked with trout and one of the fisherman caught this fish and threw it back in for the herons. C&C always appreciated and encouraged.

Got a nice one Katie Fully agree !!! That is one happy bird ... and proud :)
Would tweak the contrast and increase a little. If you are using LR there is a gradient tool which will help out the lighter right side in a jiffy !!! Impressive capture proud of you !!!
Hi Lady Katie,
I love the action here...what a feast for this happy fellow...:D I like the capture and the splashing of the water...I would suggest to increase saturation and contrast just a tad to bring this to life...good show...
saw this in the am before work and i laughed then and still laughing!! that is one big fish for that smallish bird!! love the action. all the techs discussed above. nice job!!!
That is going to be one fat bird when it gets that fish down. Nice capture of action! I like how you kept most of the splash. Sharp details in the dish and body of the bird with enough blur of the wing to give a since o motion. Very nice. I also think a bit of boost in contrast/saturation might improve this already nice image.
