This was a tough one to pull off, exposure had to be exact.

Knowing an animals behavior translates into better imagery! There is much more to producing consistently successful wildlife images than f/stops and shutter-speeds. AND, SETTING THE EXPOSURE BEFORE THE DEFINITIVE MOMENT IS IMPERATIVE!

Amigo, how exciting to see a blond bear :)
    Well seen and executed.

Agree that anticipating the behavior would result in more winners.

Superb low angle, and love the show of motion with the giant paw out the water. Great image Charles.

Love the low angle and the position of the bear... The round shape of the bear is strong graphically and holds your eye makint the centered comp work here. Wish the water wasn't so reflective but what can you do. Killer image...

Great action, sharpness and exposure, Chas. With the bear and water so light, my eye tends to be drawn to the dark area at the top of the frame - you might consider cropping some off the top. With that portion removed, my eye goes right to the bear and stays there. I totally agree about the need to know the animal's behavior.

I agree with Steves crop suggestion here. The dark pulls the eye Chas. But it is your image. Well done.

Beautiful animal well captured. The face (especially the nose/muzzle) seems almost grizzly-like rather than like a black bear. Was he chasing a fish?

Awesome image (but you already knew that) ... like everything about it. You make me google "spirit bear"... Is this a white Kermode? less than 400 on the wild, this is indeed a very special picture.

Yes, it is a Kermode bear chasing fish.

    Hi Chas,
Lovely bear. The water splash adds lot of drama to the image and one feels as if the bear is splashing the water to drink. :-)

I agree with the crop suggestion. Thanks for sharing.
    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi
