Another olde, but goodie from the winter of '03/04. I spent over 200 hrs photographing 6 different snowy owls that winter. This owl was sitting smack in the middle of a flock of gulls, and was I ever pleasantly surprised when the gulls took off

See you where there is light, or at the computer

Its a beautiful picture with a very good composition and the BKGR elevates this picture to a different level.
I may clone out the stick proding out.

A well balanced comp, with amazing colours. Not much more to add except congrats on an outstanding capture.

Top class image in every way.

I wouldn´t change a single thing in the composition of this image. the light is to die for and the low angle fantastic, killer pink sky and owl´s pose. I echoe what Ramón said and I only think about a way to improve it: some noise reduction filter or gaussian blur to the pink areas in the BG for a more creamy and soft result. Old but very good image Chas

All round gorgeous image Chas! The inclusion of dunes, dried seaweed and grasses and the unearthly sky make this magical! Wish this was mine!

This one is so old it must have been a slide. Just kidding of course Charles. This is a "killer " image. It all comes together. Light , comp , bg , detail, etc.

    Chas,

When I think of nature photographers that capture gorgeous bird scenics, I think of a few; when I think of photographers that capture gorgeous light with gorgeous bird scenics, I think of you. You are a reminder that the awe of a truly jaw-dropping nature photograph is typically not just the subject but the recording of dazzling light upon it. FYI, I'd take this owl photo over any encouraged flight shot.

Just a wonderful photo for all the reasons noted above, Chas. The pink light is truly special. One of the things I like best is that the bird is looking at something else in its environment and NOT directly at you.

maybe it's just my eyes :D but i think he is looking at the photographer. i like how the snowy's head is turned just slightly to it's left. it looks almost inquisitive.

wonderful light and composition also! what a winner!

one of the finest owl images that I've seen! My only remark is for the distracting single grass.
