Hi all, I have been in the Puna recently for two weeks and I wanted to share one of my favorites images from those wonderfull lands, hope you like it! I do. Enjoy!

    Mark II
    70-200mm 2.8
    TC2X
    Handheld
Some color temperature to warm up the scene a bit.
    Tv 1/5000 sec
    Av f/10
    ISO 400
I could've go with a lower ISO but at the time I was photographing an Andean Gull in flight so when these Vicuñas came along I had only time to underexpose a bit and get some nice shots.

Comments are welcome and critiques are very much apreciated!

I loved the calmness this picture is depicting Ramon. Absolutely wonderful.
However, I would love to see the Lhama more into this picture like one more step.

This has such a nice tonal feel-love it! I agree w/ above, it would be nice if he was over just a bit-but it is still very, very nice!

This image has a wonderful mood to it, Ramon. I am OK with the vicuna right where it is in the corner. I also like the rim light on the vicuna. So, is it looking towards us or toward the mountains? -I can't tell for sure, but the image works either way, IMO. Well done.

She's actually looking toward us Steve, I am glad you like it as it is as the shot is a full frame and I can't correct the compo :)

Thanks to everybody for the comments, suggestions and critiques! I apreciate them a lot!

I like the placement in the frame, Compositionally speaking, an snall subject should be very close to the corner. It sure is an attention grabber and placing him more into the frame would not make such an statement. Great mood!

I think the placement in the corner accentuates the feeling of him looking out at the land (even though Ramon explained it is looking at him).

Wonderful visualization of this image Ramon.

A lovely image Ramon. Superb light. Appreciate the inclusion of habitat in this frame. Wish there was little more space towards the left of the frame. Bit too tight as presented IMHO.

Nice feel to this image Ramon. I thought he was looking away at that mountains but as stated, works either way. I really like the tones and shading on the distant hills.

    Ramon,
Lovely image. Since yesterday, I have been trying hard to find out whether it is looking inwards or outwards. Finally, I agree with you that it is outwards.

Lovely moody image. There are several layers in this image. Like the rim lighting on the Vicuna.

    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi

compositions as always remains subjective... the important point is that you have managed to portray, beautifully , the subject in its environment ........

It works for me in the way you posted Ramón. I like a lot the transition of the golden colours from light in the sky to dark in the FG. The light is fantastic and I love the rim light on the vicuña. Happy 2009!
