Hi everybody! I have not been participating as I have been away for two weeks visiting the Puna in the north of Argentina, my favorite subject up there was the Andean Lapwing, I wanted to come back with some nice shot of this species as I find it so beautifull. Here we can see Mom & Son during the first sunrise light, hope you like it. Enjoy!

Hey Ramon, nice to see you posting again. I was wondering about you. Can´t wait to see all the images that I am sure you have made in the travel.
I like the expression in the adult bird, terrific eye and details, and the little chick looking for shelter in mom´s breast. The red in the eyes, spur and bill compliments very nicely with the green BG and I cann´t resist to say that toning down the BG a bit would made the bird pop a lot.

Espero que tuvieras suerte con los flamencos :-)

Great timing, I like the intimate mood, details and setting. Maybe a slightly wider crop?

Detail and colours are superb, just curious, whats that poking out of the wing?

    Nice work.

Tony, those are the spurs, they use them to intimidate predators but I have never seen actuall contact. Here's a southern lapwing and you can see the spurs too. http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ad.php?t=20685

Good job, Ramon. Nice to see you back posting. In the absence of a wider crop, I would trim a little from the top. DOF covers the subjects well.

Yes the repost is an improvement. Love the moment and IMO you made a good decision about homing in on the action here. I also learned this the hard way but it is always good (if not scaring of the bird) to use some fill flash as the eyes of the chicks often don't show any natural catchlights, which would be my only real nit here. Excellent shot otherwise!

You are right about tyhe catch light missing in the chick's eye, I could've added one, but I chose not to as I love this image as it is and I really didn't want to touch it much. Thank you very much Krijn.

The pose and the moment make the shot very original.I wonder what it would look like an horizontal compositiopn.Really great shot!! Congratulations!

Thanks Piotr, I have some others with horizontal framings but in this case I wanted to centered the atention to the action of the chick getting under mom, soon I'll post some horizontal of these two :) Glad you liked it.

Thank you all for your comments!
