    Snow Goose

    Bosque Del Apache, NM

    D3, 600 VR, ISO 250, f5.6 @ 1/2000, +0.3 EV.

It only took me a few frames of shooting from the edge of the dirt road on the large impoundment to realize that I did not like shooting down on the top of the Geese, so I got down in the mud right next to the water and was able to pick off a few birds that wandered away from the crowd.

It amazed me to see dozens of photographers standing 2 to 3 feet above the water level and then their tripods raised another four feet and pointing their lens down at the nearest Geese.
Maybe I was breaking a refuge rule by getting down in the mud ?(only two feet from the road)

Getting muddy and dirty is part of bird photography and IMO it pays of dividends.

It was my first time at Bosque. What a special place. I can see why people return year after year.

The low angle really makes this special. I also like the exposure control, details, light and BG.

Lovely pose, Alan. Low perspective really makes it. BG is great and the water drops on the breast add a nice dimension.

This is just gorgeous Alan. Excellent exposure and composition and the BG is outstanding. One of the prettiest snow geese images I have seen. Big congrats.

Just excellent. The great detail in the goose and the water that smoothly transitions into the pale sandstone BG.

Excellent exposure, and your low angles makes this work so well. Fantastic colours in the BG too. Congrats on a superb image.

Totally agree with you Alan, can't beat a low point of view. Love the layered B/G, pose and whites look great.

    Nice work.

Beautiful picture with good amount of space in the front and at the top.
The BKGR is smooth and the good part is that the whites are not blown up.

Low angles rock! Here it makes this shot almost entirely on its own, the beautiful BG colors and nice light helped a bit. Good headturn. As usual a perfect shot!
