Bad form to reply immediately to your own posting but looking at it on the web I realise it needs sharpening. I should have sharpened again after resizing it. Is this any better?

Dave, Congratulations on your first post-you'll love it here-everyone tries to help-they don't criticize they critique! I can't tell you how many times I've entered a post a did a re-do,so you are not alone-I think you captured a lovely pose and your re-post does look sharper. If it were mine I would probably off-center the bird to one side more-which for me would be adding canvas to the left-great shot look forward to more!

Hi Dave., great shot.. the pose, and perch are cool, and looks like some golden light... wondering why you posted in this forum section., as it looks all natural to me.

Welcome to BPN.....a great place to learn. You definitely need a little USM......and you fixed it. I like the reflection and pose of the Moorhen. I'm with Denise on cropping a little on the right and adding some canvas on the left if it's not there in the original to get this one out of the center. Well done for your first post.

Thanks guys! I posted it in this section because it was a captive moorhen at a wildfowl and wetlands centre. So I could get closer more easily than I could with one that was just out in the wild.
