It's always nice to see a Peregrine. This one came in about a 1/2 an hour before sunrise and settled in on the snag above my photo blind. He stayed there 'til well after sunrise with his back turned to me ignoring me. All he did the whole time he was there was to turn to look at the birds flying by.
All the ducks on the pond avoided my blind due to raptorial fears. In fact even after he left the only waterfowl to visit the logs in front of my blind were a trio of brave little coots. Nothing came to the blind for the rest of the morning. So i packed up my gear with images of Peregrines dancing in my head. Well not really;)

If the falcon were closer to one corner looking up to the opposite one, then I think I would do what you did, i.e., have a big negative space in the photo. Here, since the entire background is empty, and the falcon was looking back at you, then I'm not sure what purpose that big, negative space serves. It's different all right. I don't see how it connects to the falcon though. But, it could just be me.
Fully agree with Desmond on all counts !!! Elegant image but get on a corner, lower right preferably !!!
Since you can't go much higher with ISO with the 10D do take a series and pick the sharpest At that speed you need a strong tripod, good technique and good luck !!!
