Just being at Bosque is a treat for me. This last Thanksgiving week was my second visit there. Especially during the morning and evening hours it's easy to see why this place draws photographers from all over.

I like the focus, wing/head position & colors here. If I had my druthers I'd prefer the bird not split the color line in the BG.

    C & C Always welcome...

    Thanks for looking!

    Steve

Hey Steve, Wonderful wing position and sharpness. The bird, esp. the face, looks a tad bright. Man, that is a perfect wing position and the slightly curled up feet are pretty neat to.

Thanks Artie... It was nice to see you again at your Thanksgiving lunch.

I brought the light areas down a bit here (Lightroom 1.4.1).

Excellent pose Steve. I think the brightness of your background in the OP is better. Here's an edit with the background masked out and changes applied to the bird only. I also burned in the cheeks some more to get back the details hidden there.

I like your edit Leroy... Much better. Still struggling with the "Tools of the trade" on this end.

Leroy's repost (thank you sir) is best but I think that the greys could be still a bit darker.

I'm sure you're right about the grays Artie. I've not seen these birds in person before so I don't really know how they should look.

Hi Leroy, It's just that the grays looked to light. I used the Lightness Slider iin HUE-SAT to darken the whole thing. Hope that I did not overdo it. We should be getting our calibration strips back soon. Darkened the pupil, ran a contrast QM on the face, and cleaned up the bill tip a bit.

You are most welcome. Some might prefer a lighter version....
