Up Close and Personal
I went through some of my files today and this was taken in 2003 with my old Olympus 10x point and shoot. Don't know the settings but it was probably full auto.
Cropped a little from the original and straightened. Minor PS work.
Yes we were really close! This was a wonderful trip to northern BC. We flew to Prince Rupert and then took a float plane to the interior to a place called the Khutzeymateen Valley, a refuge put in place by the native peoples and the WWF. It was in May and the bears had just come out of hibernation and were very hungry! They ate a lot of sedge grass. We stayed on a large boat and then on to a zodiac and followed them on land sometimes for as long as a couple of hours. The guide had been doing this for about 17 years and always put himself first between the bears and the group. If anyone went it would be him first!
A memorable trip, and hadn't sunk my fortune into Canon equipment yet!
Thank You everyone for all your nice comments. I would like to thank Gus, Al, and everyone in the ETL section who take time to comment. It all really helps. And I must say that for the $20 subscription I have had a high ROI!! (return on my investment) :)
