Default Mallard on semi frozen river

This image was made by the side of a semi-frozen river in -20°C weather. The texture of the new ice very attractive. When I saw this duck just sitting there at close range, I decided that the texture coupled with the reflection would make an interesting image. So I crawled on my stomach to get a little closer and to get a better angle. I couldn't get any lower because the ground went down rather abruptly near the edge of the water.

This image is cropped vertical from a horizontal capture.

The duck looks quite content despite the temperature. I would go for a wider crop and give it a bit more room top and right.

I like this Joel. Great colour and textural /temperature contrast. I would tempted by landscape crop if you have more on the sides in the original file. Could do with less space below and more above the duck
