Bautiful image Francis. Love the slightly back-side pose.
    Very nice DOF.

The detail in the feathers is fantastic. The background is excellent and I guess he's all puffed up from the cold.

This is lovely, Francis. Common definitely doesn't mean not beautiful. The light, pose, shooting angle, perch and BG are all superb. A little selective work around the eye may brighten it a little. The bird is a lovely specimen with fresh plumage full of the "stars" that gave the name. Excellent job.

That turned out fantastic! The feather detail is over the top and the BG compliments the bird as well!

Really nice image...great pose, light, DOF and use of flash. If I had to pick one small nit the light BG area in the urc could be darkened a little. But that is very minor...I'd love this to be mine!

    Cheers, Dean

Lovely bird, plumage, pose, and perch. Not only the eye but the eye socket could use stand to be lightened more than a bit.

    Is this a (fresh) juvenile?

This is Adult winter plumage, Artie, the juvenile plumage is a very dull brown affair. In both summer, breeding, and winter plumage the European starling is a very handsome but often overlooked bird.
Lovely plumage detail and use of D.O.F. Very nice 'sympathetic' colour tones to the image. One query - How was the flash used, surely at only 1/16 power, I assume from the camera position, its effect would have been negligable?

Thanks Melvin. We do not see many of these guys in FLA. Sure is a handsome plumage.

Amazing colours shown on both the starling and the perch. The light in this is just perfect. Well captured.

Stunning image Francis. The capture of the plumage on this bird is so beautiful, not to mention the great perch and BG. I really like this one.
