Does a photo like this work or not? So hard to get any good light around here this time of year and what there is, always seems to be in my face. Taken with a 50D 70/200f4 IS with a 1.4TC at 200mm, 1/3200, 200ISO, Av. Of course most of the birds are Pintails.

    Tks,

    Dave

    Hi Dave,
I like what you were trying to do here. In my opinion, you have too much negative space on top. My eye keeps going there, and I can not focus on one particular duck or cluster of ducks. I cropped this into a pano, putting all of the attention on the center of activity. I increased saturation and contrast and selective sharpened. see if this presents best with you...

Dave, I really like this it's different and interesting-Gus' re-post is super! I like how the detail of the main duck is more visible in the repost-Great shot!

M R ducks!!! Cool. Interesting take Dave and I like the crop of the re-post and it looks like Gus lightened the ducks a bit? Just a couple tweaks did it.

I like this pic and the gold/silver and graphite colours to it. Thought a vertical would keep the shimmering light quality in it. Removed a few of the birds that were close to the edge. My .02

Thanks Everyone for the comments. I like the idea of cropping and I probably would go the pano route. Interetsing idea about f22, not sure what would happen but certainly something I will keep in mind.
