This one has a different look. I was intrigued by the abstractness of the reflection. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea. :) 20D, 500 f/4 + 1.4X, 1/500, f/8, ISO 400. Comments are welcome.

The calmness of the water is appealing and the intense look on your subject is good as well!

    Hi Steve

The light quality is great and the glassy water is fantastic and the heron is nice and sharp.
You know I really like the reflection but I dont like the removed head part of the reflection, maybe cropping just about the head reflection would look great.

I like the intensity of the bird concentrating looking into the water. Realizing you like the abstractness of the broken reflection I prefer the bottom cropped to only include the coherent reflection.

The image of the bird is well done with great light, pose, and detail. I don't find the reflection adds much, and would agree it could be cropped.
