Default Linnet (Carduelis cannabina) in winter plumage

First time I photograph one of this guys. Usually they are really shy were I live but the past saturday on the marshlands of Doñana I found a very cooperative male tha allowed a few minutes of shooting from the car. The nice BG color is the same plant species than in my two previous heron images.

Self critc: I should have used at least f8 to increase the DOF and maybe raise the ISO a bit but I do not like going too high with ISO on the D2X

Feel free to ask, coment, criticize or suggest about this image. :)

Nice image Juan. Exposure looks good, a liitle more dof would be nice as you have stated but it is sharp where it is needed. Losing the branch in urc would strengthen the image(imo). Sweet bg also.

I like it very much as is and see no great need for any additional d-o-f. And I would keep the branch UR for compositional balance. I love the perfect pose and head angle, the soft light, and the BKGR.

A beautiful image, Jaun - for the reasons already noted above. Here is another vote for more DOF. The image is wonderfully sharp around the head and feet, but the near wing is relatively soft and as my eye moves around the bird it tends to be drawn to this area.

superb image my friend, the dof is perfect, the bg gorgeous, and my opinion would be to clone out the branch in the urhc... the bg colours are wonderful.

Gorgeous...great BG, and I think your DOF is just perfect and makes the image sharp in all the right areas.

    Cheers, Dean

I like how you have framed the bird between the two branches Juan, and the BG colour is simply amazing. Well captured.
