Todd I like the eye contact of the killdeer a lot and the alerted posture between the nice green and dark leaves. The light is a bit strong to my taste and the image looks a bit soft in terms of sharpness. Did you used the VR on this image? When I used the 80-400 I obtained soft results when shooting at 400mm and wide open. I decide that my maximun useable FL for that lens was 350 and, of course, stoping down the lens one or two stops. I see that you used a f8 so maybe the lack of sharpness is due to the 400mm or the VR off. Thanks for sharing and keep them coming :)

BTW: I added a post to the D900 thread;)

Thanks for the input Juan, here is a re post with a little selective sharpening. See if this looks any better. It was hh so it could have been me causing unsteadiness also:(.

Nice COMP and good angle to the bird. And good head angle. The whites look a bit bright--not sure if any are over-exposed.

The repost is better. Nice image considering the hard light.
