    Default Grazing White Tail Buck

Another image from an amazing afternoon out, this guy allowed me to watch him feed from about 15 feet away, Slight crop for comp. Canon 20D w/ 200 F/2.8L, F/8.0 @ 1/800 sec, ISO 800, Manual exposure

Wayne nice behavioral closeup image here and I like wintery feeling of the snow. Did you create any images that have a lower angle?

Hi Wayne I'm fine with most of the bg, that is what you get and its natural. Might have taken a step to avoid the trunk intersecting the ear. I like the crop and sharpness Very nice.

btw settings wise its just personal preference but might have used the lens wide open to minimize the bg. You were probably trying for dof in the animal which you got.

Good exposure and detail. Agree with Al on shooting wide open here as what need to be sharp would have been with a little more blurring of the bg.

Going wide open might have introduce some softness to the deer but I have not checked the DOF for this lens so that is an assumption.

The tree at the ear bothers me less then the more in focus branch in front of the deer.

The sharpness on the deer is great. Agree with comments that a lower angle might have been nice here.

I agree with Robert, the branch in front of the deer is distracting, but everything else is very nice, great job on the manual exposure. Also as Al mentions, wide open would have made a nicer bg.

    Wayne,
Some good suggestions above. The tree in front bothers me. I looked at this image several times and feel f4 would have been better in this situation. The open mouth adds to the image. Nice sharpness.

Gorgeous. I know we are supposed to give advice but I just have one word. Gorgeous.
