I usually go thro' a fairly regular routine when editing images but can sometimes overcook it.
So here is a recent picture taken thro' wire netting @ Willowbank which has had a slight crop and resized only.
Details: Pentax K10D with Sigma 18-200 @ 155mm No EV adjustment.
400 ISO 1/1000 @ F6.7.

I think you did well given the conditions. Oh.....to get this beautiful duck in sweet light....that would be a real treat. Nice job cleaning the rock. I think the point of focus was on the body closest to you.....thus the head is just a bit soft. Perhaps a touch more USM just to the head to even it up. Well done.
Ian under these conditions I like to set up for the bg and wait for a duck to come by Also make sure the place you set up doesn't have mixed lighting. Its a challenge but rewarding.
You did well with the exposure I was thinking on compensating + 1/3 but would have blown the whites !!
Thanks Alfred
"Think BGs" it is.
Possibly Clear eye,Head and body angle,Background,Histogram check,Lower level but watch Foreground clutter !!!!
