    Default Northern Shoveler In Flight

On it's first assignment, I experienced a big problem with my new 50D . Fresh out-of-the-box, the camera was not working properly. I can't get a sharp image in the viewfinder, so it was difficult to track the birds in AIServo mode. I had the same problem using the other modes. The camera would beep in One Shot mode but the image in the viewfinder was still OOF. Most of the images I recorded looked ok, but all morning long, it was a guessing game.

I know this sounds obvious, but did you try changing the dioptric adjustment of the viewfinder?

    Hi Doug,
    Thanks, I did try that.
Once I removed the lens and attached it again, I was able to get a clear view for a few shots, but soon thereafter, things got fuzzy again.
I just got off the phone with Canon. Not much help. Looks like this one will be headed to the service center for evaluation...tom

Hi Tom, my thoughts were exactly the same as Doug's. Sounds like a replacement is in order from the store you purchased from.
Shoveler looks nice and sharp. I like the colours of the feet, speculum and eye. Pity it was angled away from you. I may have gone with a wider aperture to blur out the BG more.
Good luck with resolving your camera problem - big disappointment with a brand new body.

Good composition and the duck is sharp. Wish the duck had flown more toward your position. What a shame that your new body is malfunctioning. Hopefully they will get it resolved for you quickly.

Lovely angle of flight, and this is nice and sharp. Well captured.

I like the colors and the background habitat - very nice!
