Snow is in abundance here but (for me) finding a captivating image in it has been difficult ... just a lot of boring white. Yesterday I was hikng along Lake Michigan taking boring white pictures when I spotted these berries. I would have tried some different settings but I was with friends and it was around 10 degrees and windy so stopping to experiment was out of the question :) CC VERY welcome

H Mark Excellent idea I would go even tighter with the image maybe to show the cherries and blue bg only. If you could frame it with branches in the same plane so they would be in focus could also work !!

Sure like the snow on top to the cherries excellent texture !! I like it a lot !!!

agree with al's suggestions! two things amaze me here. first is that you were actually walking around a lake with the wind blowing at 10 degrees!! the second is that these berries actually were growing at that temperature!!! surprised cameras even work at that temperature!

A very good image and capture Mark. agree with Mr. Forns on isolating just the fruit and doing a tight crop...

Mark, Nice shot -I would tighten the crop as sugg. and I think you would have a stronger composition. Nice job! The snow on top is a great touch!

I never thought of that. Sunday it was 2 degrees when I was trying to get a good shot of a Junco (shy little buggers) camera seemed to cooperate fine ... Juncos didn't :)

See now Denise, that's your cue to post a stunningly perfect photo of a Junco which I'm sure you have in your portfolio somewhere so I can turn green with envy yet again :D

Thanks again for all of your help.
