I think this guy was looking right at me two mornings ago as he hesitated before making a steep dive into the water. I made no crop (very unusual), made various adjustments including sharpening and noise reduction. I'm going to post brown pelicans until I get one "right" . . .

I think you can stop now. :D:D:D

Seriously, this is an amazing BIF image. Crisp detail all over the place, nice OOF background, nice close crop... For me, the only thing that would have made this better would have been the horizon line above his head and wingspan but this...I'd pop open a beer and celebrate.

Wendell, excellent capture. I like the raised wing position. The details are razor sharp with excellent color rendition. The background compliments your bird very well. I especially like the two tone contrasting colors. flight angle capture is is great, he does look like he is going in for the dive...a big congrats...proud of you...:)

Thanks, all. I'm feeling pretty good; may I have wine instead of a beer, Jules? And my "next bird" will probably be a grebe or cormorant . . .

Hi Wendell you got this one right !!!!

These guys are difficult to capture well since you need good light and proper exposure and you got them. Would only corp a little from the bottom. Big Congrats !!

I think I'd drink the whole case and hang up the camera! Superb Wendell, a long way from Willet in the Weeds:)

Well, I keep trying, Jackie. And thanks to you and others on this site I believe I'm improving. Since I'm entirely self-taught and a relative late-comer to bird photography, I can use lots of critical help. I'm getting it here . . .
