Taken during a break in the rain. I had exposed for a darker perch and she moved. Didn't think of checking settings again before shooting:o hence the high ss.

    Canon 40D
    focal length 420mm
    f/5.6
    ISO 400
    exp time: 1/3200sec
    Metering mode: Centre weighted
Exp. Comp: - 0.67 (Forgot to put in the minus, thanks Oom Gus!)

Happens to me all the time Jeni !!!

Really nice with lots of good things, exp, pose, open beak and perch. The one change that would have made a difference is light angle, the back side is sort of dark. A slight turn of the head would have been good but its appealing as presented.

Might want also the check the AF point placement on the bird, looks like it was on the shoulder. Sure like the after rain images, they have a special feel !!

Thanks Al - you could be right re the shoulder point .... the last shot I took was focussed on a sparrow's rear end :o. Will take more time and make sure of the centre point.
Thanks Oom Gus appreciate the comment - have corrected the EV.;)

    Very nice capture Jeni.
Mr. Forns covered all of the techs.. I would have liked to have a sharper eye...see if you can selective sharpen it while still keeping it natural...
