    Default Another snowy owl

I have heard that it is due to the high number of lemmings in the arctic this summer that we have a lot of snowy owl on the east coast this winter. For whatever reason, I think it is great. These birds have been extremely hard to find the last few years - but not this year.
I was with this bird for quite a while this week until 2 guys with point and shoots came up behind me and scared it away.
Just one of many images. Others can be seen here.

I am very envious of you guys being able to share time with these wonderful owls. You have exposed this perfectly Allan, and lovely feather detail shown too. A bit tight on the LHS, and my only small nit would be that the eyes arent open, but I would still take this any day. Well captured.

I am envious too! Well, I envy all of you! So many beautiful birds all over the world! From my house, if I look through the window all I see are crows! All the small birds have disappeared coz the crows eat their eggs. Big ecological problem here in Japan!

Really sweet image of this restful owl, Alan. I'd like more room on the left too.
    Nice gallery, also.

All good comments above to which I would add that I like the perch. If the bird uses it consistently, I would get rid of the loose piece of wood hanging down if I could reach it when the bird was elsewhere.

I like the perch a lot and the owl´s pose too but I think that the composition needs more room at the left. I am envious too ;-)

This was my tightest crop. I could add canvas and then blue to the left but this was as shot.
Art, which branch do you mean? The big one in the lower left or the one by its tail feathers?

Here is one with more room on the left and the lower branch cloned out - owl yawning:

Hi Allan, Sorry for not being more clear. It's the one in the red box that looks as if it is hanging by a thread.

Great find, details, light and good suggestions above. I still have to make a trip to find this species around here. Maybe later this month.

Nice capture Alan. As others suggested canvas added on the left will make a fine sleeping snowy image. Beautiful light and exposure.

I got rid of a thread sized blade of grass that was sticking up and added canvas to the left. Now, it is time for me to go into into the snow (first of the season) for my daily run. Can't wait till Florida in February.
