Mike, for some reason this photo doesn't look sharp to me. Could it be the shutter speed was too slow? Did you use a tripod? But perhaps it's my monitor. Otherwise, I like the pose of the bird and the background. Exposure looks good, too.
Hi Mike That is not bad for the slow shutter speed Difficult to do better than that !!! You have the right settings so you gave yourself the best chance.
I like the pose, bird placement and crop Downloaded and tried sharpening a bit. Here you don't want to be aggressive since over looks worse. Did a capture sharpening using PhotoKit then the brushes to go over the face selectively. Tried unsharp mask afterward but didn't do well. Good image Mike !!!
Hi Mike,
I like the base composition; besides the fact that the bird is a little soft, there is some noise in the background. On your next one try to work with a faster shutter speed and try going down on the ISO factor to 400 or even 320 or 360...looking forward to your next one...
hi guys,
i have been waiting for the last 1 1/2 hour of sunlight like they say to use, i seem to always get a very low shutter. i am trying for as dramatic an effect as i can get. i have some real interesting news. i posted to the ornithologist to take a look at my "strange cardinal". it has blue markings and is dark. take a look. i am going to send you the highest shutter speed pic i got this week. i hope it is ok.
thanks.
mike
i just got adobe updates on my cs3 maybe it will help the sharpness.
