Had to crop this tight to get the image to acceptable file size. What is the best way to get the file compressed, I normally save as optimized low quality jpeg in Photoshop CS3. Any advice would be deeply appreciated. Just noticed the file size after downloading and posting is 84.2 KB, when I checked the file size in Photoshop prior to downloading it was 199 KB.

This image was taken on the Art Morris Bear Boat trip on September 5th. Weather was sunny.

    Camera Canon 1D Mark III
Lens Canon 500 f/4 IS with 1.4 extender
    1/1250 f/5.6
    AV mode
    Evaluative metering
    ISO 400
    WB Auto

Really appreciate all the constructive comments.

You did not have to do that. You should be able to reduce the file size without cropping the original photo a bit. Since my way of doing it is kind of different, I'll let other tell you what to do to achieve your desired result.

As presented, this image doesn't look sharp. Don't know if it has something to do with your cropping (too much?) Otherwise, it looks like a photo with good action to me.

Hi Monte Check the tutorial for posting Will give you specific information. Cropping to achieve a particular size is insanity!!!!!!! If you have any questions send me a PM Here is a link http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...read.php?t=839

Might want to re post the bear after trying the new settings. I'm sure its tighter than you want to and the image has suffer in the process.
