    Another little bird ( 10cms) that's only visited the feeder a couple of times.
    Really wishing for some decent light now - I'm getting grumpy!!!:(
    Also prefer the old format of BNP.
    Canon 40D
    focal length: 420mm
    F/5.6
    Flash
    1/250sec (most I can get with 40D and flash)
    ISO 400

    Hi Jeni,
    I like the composition. You have sharp details and good color rendition. I also like the perch. you also display a good head angle and eye contact. my only suggestion would be to tone down the dark diagonal line in the background to the right of the bird...:cool:

    Hi Jeni We should have the interface back to normal real soon !!! Lots of the things you are seeing are not intentional, they are the program's default settings.

    Some of the shadows in the bg are taking away form the bird but its an easy fix. Love the pose, sharpness and color!!

    Denise , I 'll swop you for a few weeks!! Village Weavers, plenty Thick bill weavers, sparrows, DOVES!!!! Whydahs and the odd mannikin, red bishop and quelea here. A pair of Egyptian Geese have taken to coming in and emptying my feeders too.

    Jeni,

    There should be a high speed setting on the flash that will allow you to shoot faster than 1/250 if you need/want to. If set properly the 40D should recognize it and display a symbol with a Hand lightening bolt in the viewfinder (I'm guessing this not having had a 40D but other bodies in the series do).
