WOW! It has been too busy on my end of the world the last 2 months. Very few days in the field! Made a big change adding a tripod and gimbal to my rig and after two AMs out with it feeling good about results.
This bird and it's buddies were working towards me on the tide line and at times I could only focus on the last one in line. Once they worked the area the would push me along! This frame is a 25% of the frame.
1Dm3 on 500F4 is, on tripod - iso400, 1/250, F5, EV +2/3, fill flash. cloned out a second catch light in eye.
Hoping to me back here more this Winter! Thanks Bob

Glad you like your new gear Bob. Sharpness and exposure are both good. Like the head turn. Wish the bill weren't overlapping the body. Also, I find the black stuff in the BG to be a little distracting.

Superb details on this portrait Bob. The eye is outstanding and it is posssible to see the landscape in the eye´s reflection. I agree with Doug about the dark areas in the BG and I am not sure about the composition. Maybe a vertical crop would produce a better result.

I agree, the details & exposure on this one are very good. The eye is well placed and my eyes are immediately drawn to it. I suspect you left the negative space on the right to give the appearance of looking into the frame, but for me, the image feels unbalanced. I wonder if tightening up the crop and going with a square crop would improve it.
