    This image was made at Estero Lagoon. I saw this little guy taking a bath, so i laid down on the sand and waited for the bird to shake the water off.

    Manual exposure

    Very nice action captured here, Adams. Focus seems to have locked on the plane of the base of the wings and legs so eyes and bill are unfortunately not quite sharp. You did as well as you could have considering the variables, ISO 800 was a good choice - a smaller aperture would have given more DOF to cover the bird but at the expense of shutter speed and motion blur which is already affecting the wings. Keep at it - the same image with a sharp face would be a a stunner.

    Great action Adams, terrific action, light and angle. Too bad that your focus point is not on the eyes/bill but I am sure that it was not very easy to find a perfect compromise between shutter speed and DOF and you did very well going up to ISO800
