    Acorn woodpecker. I descided to crop this in the vertical and, using the rule of thirds, place the bird not in one of the intersecting nodes, but on the divisional line that would define the left third of the frame. The dominating line is diagonal (the stump) so horizontal was out. I'd like a little more eye contact but this is not a major issue with me. The upper left corner was blured so as to soften the color from the leaves.

    Nice sharp eye and detail on the blacks. The patches of bright colour work well. I like the diagonal of the branch with the hole visible just above the bird. Good job, Mark.

    Very lovely capture with wonderful detail in the blacks and great eye contact. As mentioned the diagonal perch is very nice and makes for a very appealing composition. Well done and thanks for sharing Mark.
