This buck was herding females around my campsite when he stopped to rub antlers in Oak limbs. He also mouthed the limbs as if it itched. He became aware of me and turned head to stare me down. I liked the setting with red oak leaves, but also grass grew here. All this in Wichita NWR, Ok.

    Chas,
It seems you had a nice time in Wichita.

This image has got rich colours. I especially like the foliage near its antlers. I wish you were a bit towards your right. In that case you would have avoided the out of focus bush at the lower left corner. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi

    Chuck,

I like the look of the foliage around the deer. I would try some selective sharpening of the deer. I am guessing that if you moved he would have been off and running.

This is a very nice image with the fall colors, Chas. I like the over-the-shoulder look he's giving you. Based on my experience up north, these are very unusual antlers in that they are so upright rather that sticking more out to the side. (Maybe this "style" is more common in the south??)

Just a note that I did have fun In the Wichita NWR and the potential there is much more than I have shown. A few local photographers ,but not like in Yellowstone, etc. where you are elbow to elbow. I wonder how the spring and early summer chances are ?
Please do not go there because I may want to go back !

    Hi Robert.
I concentrated selective focus on eyes.
I did a minimal overall focus on the image not wanting to overdo it ,but bring attention to those doey eyes.
Focus changes are always a fine balance as you well know.

    Hi Sabyasachi,
    Your comments are always appreciated.
I love your Tiger images and they seem like a world away(as they are). Hard to think about imagining a TIger but you do it well.

I do agree that you did well making the eyes stand out. Thanks for pointing that out as I did not seem to notice it. The image sharpness looks better to me today and that is probably due to the fact I have my glasses with me and one this morning.

    Hi Chas,

Lovely colours, well caught with a good head turn.

    Cheers
