This was the last image I made at Long Key Made past sunset with very little light It does have a strange look but I find them appealing btw at this time is not possible to make a conventional image !!!

I like the details in the feathers and the bg. Nice contrast. For my own education, did you use a flash attachment for fill flash?

Yes James Most if not all posts you see with lenses over 300 will have a Better Beamer if flash was used.

It will extend your flash range by 2 1/4 We normally call it twice. More often than not you will be using TTL so the flash will do the calculation for you or if you are photographing close to max range just go 1:1 When using a BB the zoom on the flash needs to be set for 50 mm for best coverage.

You can get a specific unit for most popular flash units and the cost is just over $40.

Show Off!!!! i must ask a question. were you using AF at this time or did you switch to manual focus and prefocus? i was beginning to have a hard time tracking. but then again i was trying for the little blues and had vegetation as a bg. and i know you guys were shooting LONG after i stopped.

I do pre focus but still rely on AF. Would be very difficult making a full manual flight image !!! I'm not good enough to pull it off !!!! I think the key is keeping the center point on the bird !!!

    Hi Al:

Super photo, and a wealth of good information. I love photos that are a little out of the box.

Thanks for sharing your photo & wisdom.

Beautiful wingspread Al, and I love the colour of the BG. Kind of a purply-violet:)

Great capture Al. I was walking out and you and Fabs stayed behind for this one.
    Beautiful background.
