    Default Sunrise Wild Turkey

Just at sunrise I came across a flock of wild turkey feeding through tall prairie grass in Wichita NWR, Ok. . There were about #15 birds and difficult to separate a single bird or photograph. I did separate one in the grass in profile that I was happy with.

The photo is NOT cropped on purpose to show all the grass habitat it was moving through. This may not appeal to some ,but I liked it. I also left the space at the top with Fall color to coordinate the habitat and time of year. Again I know many will not like that.

The composition is excellent as is. Habitat is nicely depicted, and I love the fall "feel". The only thing that bothers me somewhat is the large OOF foreground vegetation in front of the turkey. Nice light. Perhaps desaturating the reds on your subject would be good.

I love habitat image, and this one is no exception. Warm light helps a lot. I don;t mind the OOF vegetation, just wish there was more of it to the left, on the empty space to the left of it. A quick fix if it's OK with your p/p ethics.

He survived last week I see :D

I guess fill in the space with OOF grass. Nice Idea since Im usually trying to get rid of something.

    Thanks for the idea

This is a lovely image, Chas. I really like the colours and the sharpness of the bird. The only distraction to me is the OOF grass in the foreground and the obvious sharp edges on the clump front left. Have tried a version burning in the grass and blurring out those sharp lines.

Thanks for the input and redo.

Its funny those sharp lines look almost artefactual, but I did no post processing in that area.
It seems that the lower left front area is bothersome and the more my attention is drawn to it I agree.

I really like the feel of this image, and the light is wonderful. I'm with Fabs regarding the oof grass - it doesn't bother me. I do, however, feel that you need a bit more room at the bottom for those "virtual" feet. If it were mine, I'd add a bit of canvas to the bottom, and re-crop to remove some from the top. I'd also crop the left side to just right of that focused clump of grass...but just before the oof one.
