I spent an hour with a couple of Cactus Wrens the other morning while I was trying out and getting used to my new D-300. I also was using my newish Gitzo CF tripod and Wimberly head. I have been using my tripod with the legs collapsed and with a camo pancho over the top of me. I really love to watch these birds in action amonst the cacti. Their calls range from cacophonous to slightly less cacophonous :)

I'm working on my sharpening for web skills. The original doesn't look sharp like the original JPEG at full resolution.

    Default Thanks ;)

This is my favorite bird to watch by far because of their calls and the way they move around and check me out to see what I'm up to. I had the pleasure of watching a mating pair feed their young last April in a cactus patch. I was about 20' away and after a while, I just put my camera down and watched them. They are truly fascinating. Here is a link to one of my favorite pics from that day. I am at work and don't have the ability to resize for the web. There are also pics of them removing fecal sacs and bringing insects to the nest. I can't wait to get out to the patch this Saturday and see what they're up to :)

Cool, That's a great shot! Can't wait to see more-Have fun this wkd. I watched a Bald Eagle pair w/ one Eaglet-taking turns watching the nest.I was there everyday sun-up to sun-down took alot of shots but mostly observed from a blind-It was fascinating to see how much the Eaglet had grown in three weeks.I learned alot about bird behavior as well.Again Thanks for sharing looking forward to next post!

A Bald Eagle is top of my list for birds I'd like to see and photograph. It must have been spectacular to be there. We don't have many Eagles where I live :( I'd love to see pictures if you have any. I saw you have a 500 f/4. Nice ! I ended up buying a Nikon and when I save up enough money I'll have to shell out a couple thousand dollars more for a similar lens. Oh well. Take Care and Happy Shooting !!! Robert
