John you should take a look at the uploading tutorial, I think you are using save as rather than save for web, makes a difference.

I would try keeping the posted size to the max at 200 kb for best viewing. Let me know if you need any help.

I like the crop selection and pose. Does look good with the close to mid day light, good exposure. Can sharpen a bit more but the base image is solid, easy fix.

Alfred, thanks so much, have reloaded the image saved as you suggested, thank goodness it seems to have worked :), please let me know what you think now.

Having previously posted images saved in the same way as my initial post on this one I can't think why this would happen, at least its sorted.

    Cheers

    John,

Sharpness looks great now. Comp works well for me and the blowing mane is a plus. BG complements the lion's colors.

    John,
I joined the party late, so don't know about your first post. But this one looks good to me. Is this a full frame or cropped image?

I like the looks and the flowing mane. The background and the colours are nice. I would have loved this image more if the front left foreleg were not clipped.
    Cheers,

Many thanks Sabyasachi for your comment. It is a crop from landscape as the lion was too close to get him all in, (I was at 200mm end of the 200-400 :(), I wanted to keep a normal portrait format as I am not a liker of square formats, which meant cropping as shown otherwise there would be too little ( even less :)) space for him to look into. Sorry, I should have given this info when posting, regards, john

    Hi John,

I saw before and after and you have done a great job in post processing. Great complimenting background. I like the foot raised but wish that the knee on the same foot was in the frame. If you have cropped the image then I'd suggest you add that bit back in.

    Lovely picture.

Beautiful portrait of a Kalahari lion. The dark prominent mane is awsome. Agree with others about the elbow, but wildlife photography is a moving feast-you make the best with what is available-and you did very well!
