Sometimes I prefer overcast conditions when photographing birds at the Giant's Castle hide in the Drakensberg. It helps to keep the whites under control, and prevents ugly underwing shadows. This image is from a trip earlier this year to the famous vulture hide.

Excellent image. Can't think of any nits. Splendid. I would agree,completely, about overcast lighting conditions. Even, diffuse light is preferable to hard contrashading; even if one has to go to higher ISO's.
People just don't understand when I'm happy to see overcast conditions on weekends!! I agree with you! Especially good when the clouds roll in AFTER the sweet early morning sunlight :-)
Excellent image Chris, I love almost everything about it...I say almost because I wish the dark blue touching the top of the vulture's head wasn't there. Great look of concentration on this guy!
