    Hi Folks:

Our Curve-billed Thrasher from the Cholla Cactus in our garden is sitting on a dead trunk of a Cholla that you can pick up
anywhere in the desert or vacant area. A lot of folks use them for garden decoration.

Took this photo yesterday in our usual bright sunshine. I shoot RAW+SFJPG, but this time processed the JPG full frame in
CS4. First a pass of Curves>Linear Contrast. Then Vibrance> +48, then 2 passes of USM using Lab Mode. 30~1~0

    CC's welcome and always appreciated.

I'm confused Gus .... you shot in RAW + Jpeg and used the jpeg? Not sure of the reason for the jpeg. We had to use jpeg sometime back for viewing images but now all RAW have an imbeded jpeg which browsers read.

Might go for a vertical here? Love the perch and bg Would be interesting if you can post the raw conversion to compare? Neat !!

Gus, I really love the BG colors and the perch-of course the bird being razor sharp helps! great job.Agree w/ crop sugg.-but see why you left the R side in, it's an interesting perch

Here you are Al, RAW done in LR2. my only complaint is that LR2, ACR are too slow to look at and select what I want. I have Breeze Pro, however, ACDC Photo Manager is lightening fast, and if the JPG looks good, I save it as a .PSD and take it into CS4, I like Clarity in LR2 & ACR, but I prefer sharpening in CR4 . .

I like the colours better in original post . . . RAW version is because I used WB Eye Dropper & chose a nuetral grey, Need to spend more time on WB.

    Uncle Gus,
The second image rocks. I like the vertical composition and the boost in saturation and contrasr. The details are nice and sharp Love that eye...congrats Uncle.

Why are you shooting in both RAW and JEPG? Its not necessary, and it takes up more space in your CF card...just do it in RAW. Change your camera settings...:)

My personal opininion is that this version of above with one pass in Curves Lighten & 4 taps on up key.
I shoot both RAW & JPG because I have 4 & 8 GB CF cards, and also XD slot if needed.

Thanks folks for your C&C's, every post is a learning experience.
