    I made this image at a pond at the Hawaiian Gardens - Part of the Hyatt hotel in Honolulu. There are a lot of beautiful birds here, and they aren't afraid of people:) The light was filtered and variable depending on where you were standing - I could have used a higher ISO and achieved a higher shutter speed. These birds are quite spectacular...

    Hi Bruce,
    You got yourself a fine looking bird here...:D He is placed well in frame, a few points we need to work on is, your head angle is off, it need some CCW rotation. The background is a bit distracting, especially with the white out of focus diagonal branch going through the birds head. this you can clone out, and diffuse or blur the background a bit more...I like the perch and your whites are in check...:cool:

    Bruce, Gus covered all the tech. stuff- I like the colors and the detail-Agree about BG. I never saw one of these so thanks for sharing!

    Hi Bruce - gus nailed the critique - we get them here in OZ as well - although seem to be a uglier variety LOL :)

    Also agree Gus nailed it !!! Main thing here is that stick through the birds head Need to look whats behind and get an angle !!! Just as important as the subject !!!

    The stick-through-the-head needs to go. I would be tempted to tone down the white area around the shoulder and down. Otherwise, it looks very good to me.

    Agree with all of the above comments Bruce. Might do a linear burn to tone down the whites and bring out more feather detail.
