My heart goes out to these guys....a small group in a "private" woods.
Several people do feed them, however.

I drive by and photograph them often from the van window.
    This one has stunning eyes

He's a stunning cat and he does look well fed and happy. I'm sure independence has its price. Glad someone is kind enough to feed them :)

Dave, this is an amazing portrait of a beautiful and mysterious-looking cat. I've never seen eyes like that. Detail and bg are exquisite. Thanks for sharing.

Those eyes are quite mesmerizing! There is a group near my home that runs a program to capture, spay/neuter and release the cats that are just too feral to re-home. I suppose that is better than the alternative of destroying them, but I wish they could be tamed.

He looks to be in excellent health for living on the street. What a beautiful cat.

This is a beautiful guy. It is unfortunate, though, what feral and wandering pet cats can do to the birds in their territories, not to mention the health issues they deal with. I'm of mixed minds on feral cats but I appreciate groups like Jim mentioned who at least try to control feral cat colonies.
