    Default Red-Breasted Merganser Couple

I was lucky to get both of these birds in the correct focal plane, especially in light of the fact that I was close to wide open. The Red-Breasted Merganser was a life bird for me! I like the wing position, symmetry, and the color of the water.

Beautiful, Doug. I agree with you about the symmetry of the wing position. The pano crop works very well here. The 2 brown areas in the water tend to draw my eye - maybe remove them? (A very minor point.) Well done.

Cool synchronized flight, light and details. I agree regarding the brown spots.

I thought about doing that Steve, but I forgot to. Here's a repost with your excellent suggestion.

I also like the repost Doug but either way you have another winner, as usual. The white spot on the right wing of the female bothers me a little bit, but otherwise.......GORGEOUS,STUNNING AND WONDERFUL.

Sweet shot. I like the repost much better without the 2 spots. Pano crop works very well.

Yes, the repost works much better. A perfect example of how subtle differences make a huge difference!! I would also be tempted to selectively sharpen the face of the leading bird. Great way to take advantage of a quick situation!

Doug... what happened to the spots? I wanted to give my opinion about them but they are gone now! :) Beautiful shot! I like the panorama crop! cheers!
