I had a great 1 week trip to one of the best birding location in India - Keoladeo Ghana National Park, Bharatpur, Rajasthan. Made this Sarus Crane image preening. Spent around 2 hrs with this beauty.
Comments welcome.
Canon 800mm on 1D Mark III. ISO 200, 1/800 @ f8, Manual Exposure using Sekonic L308S lightmeter.
Like the preening pose, the soft light, and the BG. Sharpness is excellent. I'd like to see a bit more eye contact. Also, I'd like to see the bird placed slightly more to the right in the frame. Thanks for posting!
Lovely mood in this image, Sudhir. I like the colours and the OOF foreground and BG complement each other well. I agree with Doug that the image would benefit from having the bird more to the right in the frame. I would prefer a little less contrast around the face so that the shadow details were more visible. Look forward to more images from your trip.
Beautiful bird, good details and preening pose. Adding to the other comments, putting the bird further to the left would also prevent that you clip the 'virtual back'.
Lovely preening pose, and I love the out of focus foreground. Another vote for cropping some of the right, too much negative space there, and I may desaturate the red channel in Hue/Saturation to leet more detail show through.
I think the gray frame does not go with the warm colors of the image.
I like thi image a lot but I would change, if this is possible, the composition. i do not like the croped body at the left so I think that more room at the left would improve the composition. I like a lot the OOF reddish stuff in the foregroung and the bird pose. I have to agree with Fabs about the red channel, a little bit oversaturated to my taste. the red channel is easily oversaturated by digital bodies. Keep them coming
Thanks a lot for the comments. I do agree with the composition. I have other preening images where the back does not touch the frame. Probably that's a better candidate than this. Thanks again.
