    Default Big Horn Ram Portrait

With the snow coming in I knew there had to be some Big Horns near the north entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. I was greeted by this one ram, all of my full body shots included the road so later on I may clone it out, but this portrait as he walked right by me caught my eye even though it breaks a few rules including cutting off the horns. Let me know if you think it works.

    Jared,
I agree that this is a tight crop. But the open mouth showing the teeth, details in the image, some snow near the horns and head makes this image interesting. It would have been better if the tip of the left horn would have been visible as that would have given some kind of symmetry. You may look at increasing the sharpening around the eye a little bit. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to more from the series.

    Cheers,

The tight crop really does not bother me on this image. Really like the detail in the ram.

    Hi Jared,

I think you have done well with such a tight crop. You have still managed to convey a sense of the environment.

    Cheers

Jared, I think this tight crop works. It is a very intimate portrait, and the BG gives me a good hint of the terrain and season. Also very sharp and well exposed.
